Panchakarma - an ayurvedic cleansing program

By Elisa Devlin - London based yoga instructor on 27 March 2014

Elisa is a London based yoga instructor and just returned from a Panchakarma retreat in Kerala, India. Panchakarma is a self referral cleansing program from ancient India. Combining full body massage, warm herbal oil enemas and other treatments depending on your Dosha (body type).

Unlike other cleansing programs, Panchakarma doesn’t strip the body of essential bacteria, rather it removes toxic build up from the digestive tract, muscles, organs and vital tissues of the body, dislodging toxins from the cells and eliminating through the enemas. A more holistic approach to wellness this ancient practice was reserved for the princesses of India and is now practiced worldwide. I feel more energised and digestion is strong, nutrients are fully absorbed into my body and my mind is more peaceful as a greater sense of balance has been restored.

If you want to find out what your body type is than take the dosha quiz here.
