Saha Astitva Foundation

By Editor on 30 May 2012

The Saha Astitva Foundation is a holistic initiative based on conscious working and living to harmoniously integrate forest and agricultural eco-systems with human habitation.

Combining love of
nature, healthy food and spirituality, they have restored a 3 acre
barren land on the edge of a forest back to fertility.  They work
with natural,  organic farming to create the healthiest and most
efficient food production system in the world.  At the same time, they
provide livelihoods and training through green development
initiatives, including conservation of an ancient degraded forest.
The sanskrit words ‘Saha Astitva’ means the harmonious co-existence of
all systems in a shared world.  Following in the footsteps of Gandhi’s
idea of self-reliance by providing green livelihoods in the village
discourages slum migration and at the same time creates the healthiest
food for the growing organic and health foods markets.  The model
demonstration farm provides inspiration and education of an
alternative future that respects and preserves the culture and nature
while providing sustainable livelihoods.  Saha Astitva offers
volunteering placements, facilities for farming/design/yoga training
courses and organise tours of india. Through Mandagni Organics farm
produce and crafts are available for sale.  The project, still in its
early stages relies on donations.  Donations outside India can be made
through Project Marigold in the UK:
